Press Release:  RCWP-USA-Eastern Region:  Ordinations

Despite the “Francis Effect” and the recent Pew RESEARCH SURVEY INDICATING STILL ONLY 40% OF those who consider themselves Catholic are attending mass regularly, the RCWP movement in the US is flourishing,  RCWP-USA-Eastern Region  proudly announces the upcoming ordinations of Alexandra Dyer and Maryrose Petrizzo to the Priesthood on Saturday 10 May 2014 at 2:00 pm at the Judson Memorial Church…

Maryrose Petrizzo, from Wilmington, DE has 25+ years experience in Catholic parish ministry including:  youth and young adult ministry, retreat director for youth and adults, catechists [all grades plus Confirmation], Formation Director for Secular Franciscans,  Certified Spiritual Director and Certified Life-Cycle Celebrant®; accomplished public speaker and an experienced "Master of Ceremonies."  Maryrose has a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the College of Saint Elizabeth, Morristown, NJ and a Master of Science in Pastoral Care and Counseling from Neumann University, Aston, PA.

Maryrose was born in Bronx, NY and attended St. Dominic Grammar School.  She grew up in Morris County NJ attending West Morris Central HS in Chester, NJ, County College of Morris in Randolph, and College of St. Elizabeth in Morristown. Since a teenager, Maryrose has always felt a call to ministry and leadership within the Catholic Church, but the Church has not been a place where Maryrose’s gifts could be nurtured and where she could live out her God given call to serve the spiritual needs of people.  In 2009, Maryrose started to attend and share her gifts and talents at the St. Mary Magdalene Community in Drexel Hill PA which is led by two Roman Catholic Women Priests. In 2012 Petrizzo was one of the founding members of the New Jerusalem Community, an inclusive Eucharistic gathering rooted in the Roman Catholic tradition which meets at Calvary Episcopal Church in Wilmington, DE.  After her ordination in May, Maryrose will be the spiritual leader of this community.

In addition to her Ministry work, Petrizzo supports herself and has worked in the pharmaceutical and medical device industry for over 17 years.  Maryrose is an expert ritual maker and is a certified officiant for all types of ceremonies, including weddings, funerals, baby naming, coming of age etc.    Her customized ceremonies come from the heart and she is passionate about offering her services to those who do not have a church affiliation or who are not welcome into a church.  Maryrose also specializes in ceremonies for same sex civil unions/weddings and strongly believes that every couple that has a strong level of love and commitment should have the right to honor and recognize that relationship.

“It is my strong belief that “love is love” no matter what your sexual orientation and it would be my honor and privilege to officiate your civil union ceremony.” – Maryrose Petrizzo
